There are many different characters portrayed in British Wrestling and one that is more darker and creepier than most is Jynx. Having seen him perform live many times he is someone we have always wanted to find out more about and we finally plucked up the courage to take a trip into the twisted mind of ‘The Dark Jester’.
UWR: Where are you from ?
JYNX: The mind of a twisted individual … or London.
UWR: How old are you ?
JYNX: Old enough to be experienced.
UWR: Growing up were you a fan of Pro Wrestling ?
JYNX: Yes a massive fan especially the British scene, back then the internet was still a dream so it was hard to get hold of shows/matches from abroad.
UWR: Where did you train to become a Pro Wrestler ? Who trained you ? And how old were you ?
JYNX: I was lucky enough to get a place in the training school in Croydon, run by ‘Big’ John Prayter and Roy Harding. A whole array of professionals used to pop by and aid in training and offer advice, wrestlers such as Mal Saunders, ‘The Barbarian’ Karl Krammer, even William Regal.
UWR: Who were some of your influences growing up ?
JYNX: Everyone that entered the square circle before me. Those who created characters with flare around their skills, people such as Kendo Nagasaki, Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger, Mark ‘Rollerball’ Rocco to name a few.
UWR: Are your family supportive of your Pro Wrestling career ?
JYNX: Yes, it was because of my father that I took up the art of wrestling. He wanted desperately to train to wrestle but health issues prevented that so i stepped in to follow his dream.
UWR: I’m sure like every Wrestler you remember your first match. So who was in the match ? Did it go well ? And what do you remember most about it ?
JYNX: Dover town hall versus the very talented Phil ‘Flash’ Barker. We were training partners down the wrestling gym so we managed to scrap a match together. The most memorable moment I guess was walking in the changing room for the first time, all the pro’s that I idolized are now in the same room as me joking and laughing around…. surreal.
UWR: In your opinion what is the best match you have ever seen ?
JYNX: There is so many !! Fuji Yamada (Jushin Liger) vs Rollerball Rocco, The Liverpool Lads (Robbie Brookside and Doc Dean) vs The Superflys (Ricky Knight and Jimmy Ocean), Chris Benoit vs Eddie Guererro ……..
UWR: Where can people see you wrestle next ? And are there any other companies you would like to work for in the future ?
JYNX: My next big venture is for W.A.W in Norwich May 12th and 13th. I would like to try my skills out in Japan (NJPW) if i ever get the chance.
UWR: What advice would you give to people starting out in Wrestling ?
JYNX: Wrestling is an art, there’s a lot more to pro wrestling than just learning the moves, listen to those that have graced the stage before you, it takes two to tango…….
UWR: We would just like to say thank you for doing this we really appreciate it.
JYNX: No Problem
