No One Can Be Quite As Ace As Ace Matthews.

Like I have said many times before the amount of talented wrestlers in the UK is amazing and we are truly in a revival of British Wrestling and another young man that has made a name for himself is Ace Matthews. He is arguably one of the most talented wrestlers in the UK and with the character he has developed over the last few years we believe he could be one of the best in the world one day. We were fortunate enough to get a short interview with The Ace Of British Wrestling.

UWR: Where are you from ?

ACE: I’m from East Yorkshire, just outside Hull.

UWR:  How old are you ?

ACE: 28. Too old! 😂

UWR: Growing up were you a fan of Pro Wrestling ?

ACE: Of course!

UWR: Where did you train to become a Wrestler and who trained you ?

ACE: When I started I was living in California for 10 months a year and the UK for 2 months so I trained both. In the USA I trained at Pro Wrestling Revolution under Robert Thompson, Vinnie Massaro and Kafu and in the UK mainly at NGW in Hull under Nathan Cruz and El Ligero. I also train frequently at Grapple and other places around the UK.

R: Are your family and friends supportive of your Pro Wrestling Career ?

ACE: Yes, hilariously. My family are ok with it though most of my friends outside of wrestling find it interesting and support me!

UWR: I'm sure like every Wrestler you remember your first match. So who was in the match ? Did it go well ? And what do you remember most about it ?

ACE: As most people will have – my first appearance was a rumble spot at a camp show – I started the match with Dara Diablo so got to wrestle a little with him before the chaos of the rumble began. My first full match was one that I replaced Matt Myers for who couldn't make it – and was a 4 way against Pete Dunne, Damian Dunne and Ryan Smile. I'm sure I was pretty terrible but the other guys looked after me very well!

R: For people that have never seen You perform can you describe your character and wrestling style ?

ACE: Being Ace, I just want everyone to be Like Me. Obviously nobody can be quite as ace but they could give it a good go. Check out my Acebook page at

UWR: What is the best match you have ever seen.

ACE: This is a hard one! Undertaker v Michaels 1 potentially?

UWR: What in your opinion is your best match or opponent you have ever had ?

ACE: The best opponents I have ever had I would say are Nathan Cruz and Rampage Brown – two of the very best wrestlers in the UK in my opinion.

R: What is your proudest moment from your time in Pro Wrestling ?

ACE: If I can pick two, they'd be making my television debut for NGW at Hull City Hall against Joe Hendry and working a full summer for All Star last year – which was an unbelievable learning experience!

R: Are there any wrestlers on the Indy scene you would like to wrestle that you have never wrestled before ?

ACE: Too many to name!

UWR: If you could choose any wrestler in history to have a match with who would it be ?

ACE: Chris Jericho – he was always my favourite growing up and is one of the best ever in my opinion.

R: Are there any goals you have set for yourself that you have not yet achieved ?

ACE: I'm always setting myself new goals so currently all of the ones I have! At the moment I'd like to break out of Yorkshire/the north east of England and debut for some more companies.

UWR: What advice would you give to anyone starting out in Wrestling ?

ACE: Work hard! Both in training and helping out at shows etc. It'll help you improve and definitely doesn't go unnoticed.

UWR: Where can people see you perform next ?

ACE: As the summer holidays have started you can catch me around Butlins for the next six weeks!
