Review

There was not one match that I did not thoroughly enjoy on this show. The Ladder Match to crown the first ever NXT North American Champion had everything you could ask for from a Ladder Match. I could not pick a winner until the very last few moments of this match. The debuting  Ricochet and EC3 both put on a tremendous performance. We only got a small taste of what to expect from Ricochet as he took risk after risk in this contest. EC3 gave a solid performance as he always does and he is without doubt a future champion in NXT. Ladder Matches are not really a big mans match however both Sullivan and Dain showed tremendous power and agility. The Velveteen Dream made a huge statement in this match as he delivered two of the most unbelievable moves in the whole match. One was an Elbow Drop off the top of a Ladder and the other was a Rolling Death Valley Driver on a Ladder. But for me the right guy won. Adam Cole is Awesome ! Everything he does in Pro Wrestling is as near to perfection as you could ever ask for and he was on top form in this match and more than earnt the privilege to be the first NXT North American Champion. This was the start of the best night in NXT for The Undisputed Era. I honestly thought nothing could ever follow the Ladder Match but the Women did a great job and put an outstanding match that could possibly be the best women’s match this weekend. Another big win for The Undisputed Era as they were able to retain the tag titles and win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Invitational Cup. With Bobby Fish injured it was up to Adam Cole to pull double duty for his team. As always the AOP dominated large portions of the match but they were slowed down by the U.K. Champion, Pete Dunne. It seemed like Dunne had the match in the bag until out of nowhere his team mate Roderick Strong turned on him and gifted the win to The Undisputed Era. Finally after months of battling them, Roderick Strong joined The Undisputed Era. Almas has been the most improved Wrestler over the last year in NXT and this match was another amazing performance to add to the others he has had. You can not forget about Selina Vega who is excellent as his manager and her timing with interference is just as awesome as her athleticism also she is so HOT. But the match was everything I expected and more and while it sucks Almas lost the title and we may not see him in many more NXT title matches maybe he is on his way up to the main roster where he could be an even bigger star. As for Black and the Championship i am positive we will see more matches of this calibre and even better in the future from this unbelievably gifted performer. The Main Event was incredible and is going to take some beating at being the best match of the whole weekend. The story was told perfectly leading up to the match and the performance these two put together was nothing short of a masterpiece. The only two things that I did not like about this match were firstly the late 30 year old “fan” with the crutches that had them taken from him by Ciampa as he was being escorted away by security for doing nothing but standing there, I just thought it was a bit silly and it really didn’t need to happen. Then the whole fact that it was booked as a Non Sanctioned Match, it was no different from any other No DQ, Street Fight or Anything Goes Match we have seen over the years. Why bother with all these stupid names and just give those type of matches one name as they are always the same type of match in the end. But non of that took away from the fantastic tale these two outstanding performers told, the finish was pulled of perfectly and it was a great way to end another epic  NXT Takeover.
