There are many annual tournaments that take place over the year in wrestling and one that I was really looking forward to watching this year was CZW’s Tournament Of Death 17. After my first taste of TOD last year there was no way I was going to miss this years tournament and I am so glad that I made the choice to sign up to CZWStudios so I could watch this years spectacle.
The first match definitely did a great job of kicking off the tournament with each competitor using all varieties of weapons including a Filing Cabinet. The second match was slightly more viscous than the first in my opinion with the three guys bleeding heavily, after getting hit with countless light tubes and other weapons including having something shoved in to the head of each performer there was a winner but he was barley able to walk after the amount of punishment he had received. The best first round match for me was Parker vs RSP. This match was what it said on the tin, there were a ton of light tubes broken in many creative yet sickening ways. While I wanted to see fellow Brit, Parker win it was arguably the best Death Match Wrestler In The World that showed why he has earned that title. While the fourth and last first round match may of had two of the biggest and most dangerous spots that was all it really had. Nothing else will be remembered about this match other than Claxton and Osbourne nearly killing themselves when they dived off of a scaffold with both men landing on to a Barbed Wire Trampoline that of course had multiple light tubes on it. Then there was the mess of wood and barbed wire structure that Kirk put O’Hare through to win the match. After already taking unbelievable punishment the four men left had to somehow come back out and get through the Semi Finals. Both matches were extremely violent but short which was smart as all performers clearly didn’t have much left in them to give us much more. There is something quiet strangely special about a Fans Bring The Weapons Match and this definitely delivered. Even I someone who is quite new to CZW/Deathmatch Wrestling have heard of both Klein and Tremont. That shows what sort of mark they have made on this business. Then I have gotten to know Cannonball quite well after he kindly did an interview with us. This was just strangely fun to watch these three men use an array of weapons including a Pineapple, a watermelon, an Xbox, a Beer Bat, a Thomas The Tank Piñata and many more. It was also a very touching scene after when the legend Toby Klein was inducted into the Hall Of Fame. The Final was an insane way to end what was the most brutal and bloody show I have ever experienced. Just when I thought they had done everything out came Jimmy Lloyd with a God Dam Weed Whacker and attempted to cut up RSP. After hitting each other with untold light tubes, throwing each other through Glass and Barbed Wire these two maniacs climbed Up a scaffold that was next two the ring and Lloyd was able to gain the advantage as he drove RSP off the top and through a structure consisting of Chairs, Woodenboards and Glass to become the winner of this years Tournament Of Death. This is was in my opinion just as good and just as entertaining as any wrestling tournament I have watched this year. Now I have signed up to the on demand service you will be seeing a lot more CZW reviews this year and after this show I am more than excited to watch there next event.
