Match Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️3/4
The opening match set the bar high for the rest of the card as The Undisputed Era against Lorcan & Burch was far better than I had ever envisioned. Whilst Strong & O’Reilly were very impressive they for me were out shone by the duo of Lorcan & Burch. Whilst they were unsuccessful here they did themselves no harm as it is more than possible that they will hold those belts some time in the future. As for who is next to challenge the Undisputed Era, I’m sure most would want to see The War Raiders get a shot in the very near future. The one match that has the potential to be a show stealer was Dream vs Ricochet and the very nearly did just that. Who can not be impressed by Velveteen Dream ? His Hogan “Tribute” entrance was perfectly done, in ring he was outstanding, considering how young he is and how long he has been doing this for, it is scary how good he could become. Ricochet was flawless and the two meshed together so well that it became a match that I never wanted to see an end. The Women’s Match was good but for me it was no where near as good as any of the other matches on this card. As has become the norm at Takeover shows another new signing was in the crowd and it won’t be long before everyone will Bask In His Glory. Kieth Lee is in NXT and is a massive addition to an already stacked NXT Roster. Having such a stacked roster did make me wonder why there were only five matches on this card. There was more than enough time and room to have a match that could of involved maybe EC3 or Adam Cole or Kassius Ohno or many others that could of had a decent to very good match on this show. Why was the North American Title on the line and when was the last time that title was defended ? Maybe I have to pay more attention to the weekly shows but shouldn’t a title that is meant to have some sort of prestige becon the line at the big shows ? I was really enjoying the Lars vs Black match until the botched kick then the finish could not come fast enough. Whilst the majority of the Ciampa/Gargano Street Fight was basically a carbon copy of their last match, it did have some cool spots. Whilst the finish was a bit of a mess with those guys with suits running around like headless chickens and the Ref magically appearing to count the fall but was nowhere to be found for a minimum of five minutes before that, I do like that Ciampa got the win as he is the star of this feud . As the best Heel in all of WWE he should be next to challenge Black for the NXT Championship. Now that is a match that I want to see.
