Review

This is how Pro Wrestling Should Be Done. Now I will not say this was the perfect show but it was one I found myself fully invested in for one reason, Being The Elite. The YouTube show that was started by The Young Bucks has grown over the last few years from a look at the lives of The Elite and has now turned in to a short Weekly comedy show with a vast array of characters and storylines. It was these characters and storylines that in my opinion made this show so fantastic and the fact that there was no Wrestling involved in these episodes that built up to this show made the anticipation to see each match that more intense. This is how it should be done, you build up with storytelling and acting segments for weeks and the end is the big show where we finally get to see them in the ring fighting their foes. Not four to five weeks of five hours of wrestling per week with long drawn out matches that build up to an even longer show with the same matches but the matches are even longer. The Battle Royal for a shot at the ROH World Title later in the show that was the pre show match was pretty basic until the end when it looked as though Bully Ray had won. In came what seemed to be the legend that is Chico. After he threw Bully over the top rope too the floor  he removed his mask and it was Flip! The crowd erupted after months and months of Flip begging on Being The Elite to be booked for the show, he finally got his spot. MJF and Matt Cross had a fast paced opener that did a great job kicking off the show. I marked out for Sean Mooney and I am sure I was not the only one ? Over the years there have been many celebrities that have performed inside the squared circle. While Kaufman, Leno and Arquette amongst others made an impact I can’t think over any celebrity that has given such an outstanding in ring performance that was given by Stephen Amell. Not only did he look at home in the ring but the risk he took at the end when he dove to the outside and crashed through the table proved he does love this business after putting his body at risk. Again this was another well told story that was played out on Being The Elite and this was a great way to finish this tale. The Bar for Female Pro Wrestling was raised on this night as the four way match between Chelsea Green, Brit Baker, Madison Rayne and Tessa Blanchard was the best women’s wrestling match I have ever seen.  Now while there may not of been any back story to this one it was the athleticism and talent that made this so good. Every single women gave everything and while they were all fantastic it was the winner of the match that stood out. It was a nice touch seeing Tessa Blanchard being escorted to the ring by her Father  (Tully Blanchard) and her Stepfather (Magnum TA). The third generation star did her family proud and put on a performance that proved why she is being named by many as the best female wrestler in the world today. The only problem I had with this show was the match order. Now for me the one match that stood out head and shoulders above any other on this show and also had the most prestigious title in wrestling on the line should of been the Main Event.  There is no doubt in my mind that Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, Ric Flair, Terry Funk, Dory Funk JR and every other former NWA Champion would agree that both these competitors did them and the NWA title proud after they put on a five star wrestling match that had everything you could of asked for from a Pro Wrestling title match. I especially loved the finish that I have always called “The Bulldog/Bret Hart Finish”. The end of this match would of also been a great way to end the show but I do understand that they have a time limit and may of been worried that the match and moment after might of been cut short if it had gone on last. So from that point of view I guess they made the better decision as the show did end pretty quick after the last match. Yet another great story that has played out on Being The Elite was Hangman Page murdering Joey Ryan then suffering from guilt after his actions. This was my favourite story on BTE over the last few months and this was a great way to finish this story with Ryan returning after an insane Street Fight then Cock Flipping Page. Then Page was carried out by numerous inflatable cocks, that was kind of weird but also kind of a fitting way to end it. After Flip got his spot he came really close to winning and becoming ROH Champion but it was yet another brilliant comedy gold story from BYE of Jay Lethal who transforms in to his alter ego Black Machismo when he is touched on the shoulder. This was not only a great fast paced match that had so much jaw dropping agility, it also had fantastic comedy spots woven throughout perfectly. It was kind of disappointing that Flip didn’t win but when was the last time the ROH title changed hands on a show that was not an ROH show. With out doubt two of the best wrestlers in the world today are Kenny Omega and Pentagon JR. This match proved why they are exactly that, it is definitely one that if you have not seen you really should make the effort to watch it. I really liked how Marty built this match up with him wanting to prove that he is capable over going toe to toe with any Heavyweight out there. Not only did he do just that but he took one of the best Heavyweight wrestlers of all time to the limit. There is no doubt in my mind that one day Marty Scurll will be a World Champion for a major promotion  one day. The Six Man Tag Match was a nice way to close out the show. Mysterio proved yet again that he is able to hang with the best highflying spot monkeys out there and this was a great spot fest to end what was the best wrestling show I have seen in a very long time. I just hope this is only the beginning and we see more All In shows at some point that have been built up after a series of Being The Elite (One in the UK at some stage would be pretty awesome) as I can see this being something that could change the world of Pro Wrestling forever .
