The 70th Anniversary Show of the NWA was one that will be remembered for all the right reasons. There was an extraordinary amount of exceptional talent on display and every match is with out doubt worth. Eight men battled in a two round tournament to be crowned the new NWA National Champion. The first round had two four man elimination matches. The first was won by Sam Shaw who has really improved since I last saw him in TNA/Impact. The other was an equally good match that was won by one of the best big men in the business today Willie Mack. There was a nice Lucha/Cruiserweight match between Laredo Kid and Barrett Brown that was not only a really cool spot fest but told they both told a nice story along with it. Someone who I have seen more and more this year and been even more impressed by him every time is Peter Avalon. His match with Tim Storm was really entertaining and the stipulation added to the match only made it that more interesting to see who would win the match. My all time favourite female wrestler is and will always be Jazz. She is a legit badass and I know she could just as easily fuck up any guy on any day. Her match was only going to one way and she dominated poor Penelope Ford who did attempt to give a good showing but she was no match for Jazz. The Final for NWA International Championship was a very good match and it was impossible to call who was going to win but I think the right guy did. The tag match was pretty much a squash but what happened before with the weird guy in the hood and those two women was just confusing. While the second encounter may not of been as hyped and anticipated as the first it was still a brilliant match that proved these two men are two of the best in the business today. The whole show was really enjoyable and it was nice to see the NWA back and I just hope there are a lot more shows on a more frequent basis.
