This was a very enjoyable, action packed Clash Of The Champions that definitely had its share of memorable moments. The one thing I really like about WCW at the moment is the plethora of young up and coming stars they have. I can see many of them in the next five years becoming the top draws and man event stars. Every match on this show had at least one impressive young performer in it. There is no question in my mind that Cactus Jack is a legitimate lunatic. The risks this guy takes with his body is crazy and one day he could end up getting badly hurt. However his character is intriguing and the way he portrays this wild man only makes you want to see more. He got a big win here over the flamboyant Johnny B Badd. Never have I seen someone move in the air with such ease as Too Cold Scorpio. He makes everything look effortless, I see him having a very bright future in WCW and don’t be surprised if he is picking up gold very soon. His opponent Scotty Flamingo was also impressive but it just was not his night. If given the chance I could see Flamingo achieving big things in Pro Wrestling. That Chris Benoit is a machine. Everything he does is precise and technically perfect. He is just another in the long list of young talents this company has at its disposal. I don’t get the Vinnie Vegas gimmick, he is a very tall man and could be so much more intimidating if he had a better character. If he was able to find that character or gimmick he has the potential for great things in WCW. The Wrecking Crew easily defeated their opponents in a cold tag match that no one really cared about. The tag titles were on the line in a fantastic contest with three of the most impressive youngsters in the whole of WCW doing their upmost to impress. I must say I was really impressed by all three. Douglas and Pillman have IT and I see them both having fantastic careers. As for Austin who knows if he works hard and is given the opportunities to succeed then there is no reason why he can’t succeed in this business. The tag match was superb the only problem being it ended in a DQ so I guess we will be seeing these two teams clash again at some point in the near future. The Thundercage main event was built throughout the show. The one huge factor was that wrestlers kept getting injured or taken out at the hands of Big Van Vader. What was meant to be a 4 on 4 match ended up as a two on three handicap match. As always Sting was amazing and with the promising second generation Dustin Rhodes they were able to not only survive but with the help of Cactus Jack (who was seeking revenge and got it) as he broke in to the cage and helped the two men defeat Vader, Orndorff and Windham. While this was extremely similar to a War Games Match it just was not as good as that concept however it was still entertaining and was a good way to end a very enjoyable show. I can’t wait for more WCW action. I just wish like WWF they had their own Live Monday Night Show. Maybe one day ?
