REVIEW

There was an insane amount of wrestling shows taking place over the Wrestlemania weekend and I am finally managing to catch up on the ones I really wanted to watch. One of the shows I was going to make sure I was not going to miss was MLW Battle Riot II. I am just a little annoyed it took me this long to get round to reviewing it. So the first two matches were decent but this show was all about the last two. First the World Title Match was enjoyable for those who find Hardcore Wrestling entertaining. One who does not even think it has a place in Pro Wrestling is Jim Cornette. He absolutely buried the match and Jimmy Havoc throughout the entirety of the contest. I like Jim Cornette and respect everything he has done but I don’t think he is the right fit as a commentator for MLW. I personally enjoyed the majority of the match but I do think Havoc went a bit to far with the Staple Gun that was pointless. The Battle Riot is basically a Royal Rumble but you can also eliminate opponents via pinfall and submission as well as throwing them over the top rope with both feet touching the floor. For me the star of this match was MJF. He is a fantastic heel and I really thought they were going to put him over in this match. There were a few other entrants that caught my eye like Jacob Fatu, Brian Pillman JR, Alexander Hammerstone and Richard Holliday. All guys are young and have bright futures so I really thought one of these would win but NO. Instead they went with LA Park to win it all. I did like the match but felt it was a very underwhelming finish with him winning it. I get he is a legend but these sort of matches should be about making new stars not putting over ones that have seen better days. This was an enjoyable show and definitely worth watching. I For one can not wait till MLW comes to Free Sports in the U.K.
