REVIEW

The singles matches produced by NJPW are with out a doubt the best you will see from any company in the world. The problem I have with the majority of their shows including this one is the five or more six man, eight man and ten man tag matches that are put back to back on each show. While the action is always first class, it does get a bit repetitive seeing the same type of match. I get some of the matches are building to more important singles matches but they do that with every match, maybe they could try something different every once in a while. For me the show really got interesting after Juice Robinson got the win for his team and a cryptic video played which showed that there will be a new character coming to NJPW. Who it is I have no idea but the Union Jack in the video must mean it’s a British Wrestler.  The tag match between Evil & Sanada vs Okada & Ishii was a great way to build for the upcoming singles matches. I would like to think Sanada would win the title but I just don’t see it happening at this point in time. If he did win it would that cause problems within LIJ as Naito has made it known that is the title he wants the most. Like I said the singles matches put on by NJPW are the best you will see anywhere in the world and the two title matches on this show where proof. The arrogance and confidence of Taichi only makes me like him more. He is a fantastic heel and the perfect opponent for any good babyface. While o doubt we will see him feud with Cobb any longer after this, I do see them returning to the feud with Taichi and Ospreay.  The Main Event was everything I love about the Junior Divison. It was not stop, hard hitting, fast paced action. These two are arguably the best at this weight class in the world and for me Dragon Lee is in the conversation with who is the best Luchador in the world. After Lee got the win he sent a message to Hiromu Takahashi. The Ticking Time Bomb who is still out with a neck injury was told by Lee that his title is waiting for him. I hope that Hiromu does eventually return. I am positive that I am not the only one that thinks this could be a story and match great enough for a place on Wrestle Kingdom.

If you take out all the multi man tag matches this Dontaku Show could be done in one night with a whole card of fantastic single matches and maybe a few tag matches thrown in as well to have a bit of diversity throughout the card.
